The art of Acupuncture is a treatment method that has been practiced for more than 5,000 years in China & other Asian countries. It is the application of fine, thin needles in specific locations that correspond to the human body’s energy paths. These energy paths are directly related to the organs in the body. There are documented benefits for various pains and ailments with the use of acupuncture. One article lists things such as fatigue, headache, and nausea improvement, treatment of infertility and obesity, and reduction of pain and arthritis. A recent article in Acupuncture Today (Jan 12, 2007) sites a study by Mayo Clinic that confirms improvement in fibromyalgia with acupuncture treatment. Other studies show multiple benefits with various autoimmune disorders. In a society overflowing with habits detrimental to health, warfare against disease and obesity, and a population in pain, acupuncture is an alternative “medicine” waiting to bring relief. |
